#HFS2018

I started this Blog when I first started working with the North Lake College Summer Hawaiian Field Studies course. I knew that in 2 weeks, I would learn so much and I needed a place to document it. I was right. I went back through my pictures when I got home and thought, "Did we stop here? I don't remember this!". So I went back to my Blog and was reminded of that moment. So many great moments, so many great stories...here is where I document them. Please read, enjoy, send me questions, comments, etc.

I will be streaming live using Periscope on my Twitter Page. Follow me @Laronna_D on Twitter and @ldoggett on Instagram

Day 8 and 9 - Leaving the Big Island and Heading to Kauai and Activity Day

We packed up and headed to Kauai from the Big Island. We stay at the Plantation Hale which feels like a home away from home.  It is a nice condo with very comfortable beds.  We got checked in and I headed over to my favorite Island eatery....The Sleeping Giant Cafe.  It is behind the Coconut Marketplace. They have the BEST fish tacos.  I may have gone over there 3 times in my 5 days here. Just maybe. But they are the best.

Before making grocery store runs for the students, Erin and I headed to the LightWave Pottery studio.  I started pottery lesson over a year ago and have throughly enjoyed it. Someone sent me a video of this artist and studio.  He has some beautiful pottery.  I was not able to stay long and did not make it back.  Check it out if you make it to Kapaa, Kauai! Very nice man.

The next day was activity day. Students got to choose what they wanted to do...within reason! Some went on a kayaking trip to see Secret falls, some came to the beach with me, and some slept, did laundry, caught up on work, etc. I got to spend a little time on the beach in between running students back and forth.

I made some nachos for dinner.  Once again sad because Kate was not here to share it with me.
