#HFS2018

I started this Blog when I first started working with the North Lake College Summer Hawaiian Field Studies course. I knew that in 2 weeks, I would learn so much and I needed a place to document it. I was right. I went back through my pictures when I got home and thought, "Did we stop here? I don't remember this!". So I went back to my Blog and was reminded of that moment. So many great moments, so many great stories...here is where I document them. Please read, enjoy, send me questions, comments, etc.

I will be streaming live using Periscope on my Twitter Page. Follow me @Laronna_D on Twitter and @ldoggett on Instagram

First Impressions

Flying into Hawaii was a little rough because of the winds, but looking out the windows of the plane made it better. On the left side, I saw the Pearl Harbor monument and many large ships. On the right, there was the beautiful coast with teal water followed by a deep blue.

We checked into our hotel room and then walked down to Waikiki beach for our orientation. Beautiful...and crowded.

After that, I went with the other adults to get some dinner. I had the Hawaiian Shrimp Tacos. Yummy!!! There was this great pineapple sauce to put on it.

My final quest was to get to Barnes and Noble to get a bird ID book. 2 miles away...I was going to walk, but decided that $3 to ride the bus there and back was a great investment.

Finally, I went to sleep at about 11PM Hawaii time...4AM Texas time.

It is 4:27 PM Hawaii time and I could totally go to sleep right now!! Yawn.
